Understand payment status, refunds, and disputes
Read payment updates without mistaking a pending checkout for collected money.
Before you start
Have the relevant invoice and payment date or reference available.
Step by step
Check the invoice balance
Open the invoice and review its payment entries alongside the amount still due.
Read the payment status
Distinguish completed payments from pending, failed, or abandoned attempts. Opening a payment link is not a completed payment.
Review follow-up events
Inspect available refund or dispute updates. These describe changes affecting a payment and should be read alongside the original payment record.
Reconcile before changing records
Compare the payment details with the provider or your actual receipt. Resolve the cause before entering a manual payment that might duplicate it.
What happens next
You can distinguish money originally received from later payment events. Refund and dispute observations do not rewrite the original principal shown in the Payments report.
Good to know
Payments reports are not a net cash or bank reconciliation statement. Check the provider for settlement and payout details.
